Colorado Rural and Frontier Health Care Preceptor Tax Credit
An annual individual income tax credit of up to $6,000 for primary care preceptors in rural and frontier Colorado to offset the costs of their voluntary mentorship of students studying to work in rural areas.
- Who may qualify
- Rural primary care preceptors including: Physician (MD or DO) Advanced Practice Nurse Physician Assistant Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine Registered Nurse Registered Dental Hygienist Licensed Clinical or Counseling Psychologist Licensed Clinical Social Worker Licensed Professional Counselor Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Psychiatric Nurse Specialist Licensed Addiction Counselor Certified Addiction Counselor working in an outpatient clinical setting
- Award or benefit
- Eligible preceptors can claim an income tax credit of $2,000 per rotation. A maximum of 3 credits can be claimed annually for a total of $6,000 per year.

Colorado State Dental Loan Repayment Program
Loan repayment assistance for dentists and dental hygienists in Colorado who agree to serve a certain number of underserved patients each month.

- Applicants must work at a a public, nonprofit, or private dental practice in Colorado; see Medicaid, CHP+, and/or uninsured patients each month; and provide direct clinical care to patients. Eligible dental professions include: General dentists Pediatric dentists Dental hygienists
- Award or benefit
- Award amounts vary based on the number of Health First Colorado (Medicaid), CHP+, and uninsured patients seen each month. Amounts are as follows. For dentists: $50,000 – if serving 80 or more eligible patients per month $37,500 – if serving 60-79 eligible patients per month $25,000 – if serving 20-59 eligible patients per month For dental hygienists: $12,000 – if serving 80 or more eligible patients per month $8,000 – if serving 60-79 eligible patients per month $6,000 – if serving 20-59 eligible patients per month

USDA Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program
USDA may repay up to $40,000 per year for at least three years of service in a designated veterinary shortage situation.
