Oregon Partnership State Loan Repayment Program

Offers matching funds for loan repayment for primary care providers who serve in Health Professional Shortage Areas of Oregon.

Who may qualify
To qualify, participants must be U.S. citizens, and they must work full-time or be contracted to begin work at a practice site located in a HPSA in Oregon. Eligible professions include: Allopathic or Osteopathic Physicians specializing in Family Medicine, General Pediatrics, General Internal Medicine, Gerontology, General Psychiatry, or Obstetrics/Gynecology Primary Care Nurse Practitioners Primary Care Physician Assistants Certified Nurse-Midwives Dentists (DMD/DDS) Expanded Practice Dental Hygienists Licensed Mental Health or Behavioral Health Professionals: Clinical or Counseling Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers, Professional Counselors, or Marriage and Family Therapists Psychiatric Nurse Specialists Registered Nurses Pharmacists Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor IIIs (Master Degree required)
Award or benefit
Participants may receive awards of up to 50% of their qualifying educational debt for an initial two-year obligation. A maximum of $25,000 per year is available for providers practicing full time and up to $12,500 per year for providers practicing half-time. Providers may receive a maximum of $100,000.

Oregon Rural Medical Practitioner Insurance Subsidy Program

Reimbursement for medical malpractice insurance policy premiums for physicians and nurse practitioners who practice in rural or frontier areas of Oregon.

Who may qualify
Physicians and nurse practitioners with an active Oregon license who work in rural or frontier areas at least 60% of the time and provide services to patients who use Medicare or Medicaid are eligible to apply. Applicants with coverage provided by a healthcare facility must reimburse the healthcare facility the amount of the premium that is credited to the applicant.
Award or benefit
Reimbursement is allowed for policy limits not exceeding $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate. Reimbursement is offered at the following rates: 80%: Physicians specializing in obstetrics Nurse practitioners certified for obstetric care 60%: Doctors specializing in family or general practice who provide obstetrical services 40%: Doctors or nurse practitioners working in general practice, internal medicine, geriatrics, pulmonary medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, anesthesiology, or family practice without obstetrics 15%: All other physicians and nurse practitioners not listed above
